E- MaGIC 3rd TRANSATIONAL PROJECT  MEETING IN COLOGNE-GERMANY

 The 3rd Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) of E-MaGIC that took place in Cologne from 5th to 7th November 2019, started with a discussion leaded by the German partner ” Ingenious Knowledge”, regarding the game development that all the partners are working on, to create an immersive smartphone gaming app to improve math learning and  that the students  of Italian, Portuguese and Greek schools,  have to test when the first version of the prototype of the game will be ready.

The discussion was followed by a demonstration of the current state of the gaming planning to acquire  useful feedback, by all partners, in order to improve the game. The provided demo showed the UI interface for several areas of the game, such as: character creation, main menu, game matchmaking, arena, spell action bar, spell/equation casting; as well as the gameplay in training mode (playing against a simple bot) and in multiplayer mode (against the other players).

In order to ensure good quality implementation, it was agreed that at least three testing stages should be implemented, each one requiring that multiple players (testers) play the game and afterwards give their feedback on it. The technical feedback, that will be required at each stage, will be provided by Ingenious Knowledge after merging the information sprung by the experimentation performed by all partners, to provide the  elements required to correct some imperfections present in the prototype.

Moreover all partners agreed to adopt the same  training course structure for educators, proposed by the Portuguese leading partner  the Regional Direction of Education-GMTE, embodying training materials,  a handbook containing a step-by-step guide on the usage of the game, along with instructional videos for teachers and students.

Finally the official name of the game was decided, CLASH OF WIZARDRY  and the project website was created too: www.emagic.eduproject.eu.

After receiving the prototype version, it was agreed that every partner will have two weeks to provide feedback on the game.

To close this meeting, an overall assessment was made and all partners expressed their satisfaction with the results  of the intellectual outputs realized by the consortium,   making them to feel pleasingly engaged to proceed with the planned tasks.

The aim of the project is to find an informal and fun way of learning, creating a fantasy game, to improve the school results and the mathematical skills in learning this discipline, in line with the expected results of the Institutional Educational System of each country involved.   The final result will be an immersive smartphone gaming app, to be used in schools alongside the teaching of mathematics, in order to practice what is learned at school, but in a more pleasant and engaging way, overcoming learning difficulties.
